Join us for interactive stories from around the world! Kids will be immersed in the traditions and everyday lives of peoples and objects from Africa, Asia, the Pacific and the Americas in Intersections: World Arts, Local Lives. After Story Time, continue to learn about global art by traveling around the world with your very own passport in a self-guided gallery adventure!

Originating from ancient Chinese Daoist principles, Tai Chi is an internal Chinese martial art form that helps create a healthy balance of Yin-internal energy with Yang-external energy. Master Peter Asco leads free Tai Chi lessons with basic training in Chi-Kung followed by tea in the Courtyard and gallery viewing of How to Make the Universe Right. No experience necessary.

Amongst the imagery in Fran Siegel’s installation, Lineage through Landscape: Tracing Egun in Brazil, are natural elements such as trees and leaves that have special significance in Candomblé, a religion originating in Salvador, Bahia. In this gallery talk, Robert Voeks, Cal State Fullerton Professor of Geography, explores the ethnobotany of Brazil’s Candomblé religion, a belief system introduced by African slaves during the colonial era that continues to employ a large pharmacopoeia of healing plants.
