In honor of Black History Month, enjoy a free recital at the California African American Museum on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at 7pm.
Former LA Opera Young Artist Alaysha Fox takes the stage along with Ashley Faatoalia (the Emperor in last season’s Turandot) and star of stage and screen Orson Van Gay II.
These artists will present a program of iconic songs by Black composers who helped build the foundation of American classical music, including H. Leslie Adams, Margaret Bonds, and H.T. Burleigh.

The California African American Museum is located in the heart of Los Angeles, just steps away from USC, the California Science Center, and the Natural History Museum. We are accessible by car, bus, and Metro rail line. Admission, exhibitions, programs, and events are always free and open to the public.
Driving and Parking:
If you are driving, CAAM is at the corner of Figueroa Street and Exposition Boulevard, just west of the 110 Freeway. Please note that our parking lot entrance is at 39th and Figueroa Streets. Please put that cross section into your maps search or GPS device.
Parking in Exposition Park is $20 during the day; $24 after 5 pm.
