Opening tonight, the “Everybody Loves Nudes” art exhibit will run from November 12 – December, 2013 and is curated by Molly Barnes, a successful art dealer and curator, radio personality and author who discovered artists John Baldessari, Gronk, Mark Kostabi and Bob Cottingham, among others. Barnes recently curated “Seven Sculptors” for the Getty and a Michael Todd retrospective at California State University Channel Islands.
The featured artists have shown at prestigious galleries throughout the country and around the world. They include a leading celebrity portraitist and subject of a recent film; an artist featured in Time Magazine; and a painter of surreal, iconographic images.

Featured artists:
DON BACHARDY – America’s leading celebrity portraitist, with shows all over the world, lived with writer Christopher Isherwood for 30 years. They were the subject of Tom Ford’s recent film “A Single Man.”
DEREK BOSHIER – This British superstar with his erotic transsexual and straight nudes, teaches at UCLA and recently showed at the Tate Modern in London as well as in Russia.
DAVID BUNGAY – A popular landscape and seascape artist who paints the Sierras and recently showed at Craig Krull’s Gallery in Bergamont Station.
MAURO CAPUTO – This successful perfume package designer for Revlon and Fred Hayman is a WLAC art instructor. He creates pop art reinterpretations of famous paintings by artists such as Picasso, Modigliani, Courbet and Matisse.
SIMONE GAD’S large sculpture recreates a life sized Marilyn Monroe seated at her vanity, throat slashed, possibly by the Kennedy brothers, whose autographed pictures are on the make-up table beside her.
JIM MORPHESIS – An assemblage artist and painter of classic male nudes, was a winner of the LACMA outstanding young talent award. Morphesis had a sell-out show at Garbusian Gallery in Beverly Hills.
JAMES STROMBOTNE – This popular Southern California painter and U.C. Riverside instructor for 50 years was recently included in four Getty shows. One of his paintings, seen in “Time Magazine” in the late 1960s, shows actor Gary Cooper seducing a young girl with a yo-yo.
JON SWIHART – A painter of American presidents and Supreme Court justices, is exhibiting his one classic nude in this show.
WILLIAM TUNBERG – A Venice artist who works with exotic, natural and dyed veneers assembled over complex sculptural forms. The work in this show is a drawing of his wife.
CRISTOPHER ULRICH paints disturbing gothic figures and dragons which he recently showed with Molly Barnes in New York City. Ulrich will be showing his 30-foot “ Last Supper “ mural at Billy Shire’s Gallery in December.
