DK Dance Factory launches summer with Brazilian Carnival — NoHo LA dance review

TOMORROW NIGHT!

DK Dance Factory is launching summer with a Brazilian Carnival style. Experience the sounds and culture of Rio de Janeiro and Bahia to North Hollywood at Skinny’s Lounge on Friday, June 29, 2012 at 8:30pm with their Brazilian Carnival show. It promises to be an evening filled with dazzling samba dancers, amazing live drummers, exotic costumes, Brazilian music, giveaways, Caipirinhas and more.

Brazilian Carnival special guests include:

Ali Lexa and Samba Da Mudança – Escola De Samba~Los Angeles
Formed to share and celebrate group drumming in a fun and supportive environment. ‘Mudança’ for positive ‘Change’ in the world! Mudança = change, shift, move, turn, transition, variation.

Julie Simon, founder of Tropicaleiza
TROPICALEIZA is an Afro-Samba dance company that explores aspects of Brazilian and Contemporary Dance as well as other African based movement through pulsating rhythms displaying power, joy, love and healing through passion in motion!

Jeane July, the Samba-Reggae extraordinaire.

North Hollywood’s DK Dance Factory provides an authentic and fun mix of Brazilian dance, music and martial arts classes to their adult and youth dance schedule. On offer is ballet, burlesque, Broadway Star Dance Camp, and now Brazilian dance and drumming.

Specialty classes offered include:

Brazilian Samba – Bringing a little Brazilian party to the dance floor! Learn the hottest dance craze from brazil while getting an amazing workout! Move your body, shake your hips, and dance to the rhythms of the drums in this high-energy dance class!

Capoeira – Learn the Brazilian martial art that blends dance, aerobics, flexibility and strength training to the rhythm of traditional music.

Brazilian Drum Workshops – This class is open to all levels of experience. Learn to play instruments such as the surdo, ago-go, pandeiro and many other fascinating percussion instruments.
