The Fowler Museum at UCLA teams with Afro Funké to present a closing event for the Central Nigeria Unmasked: Arts of the Benue River Valley exhibition, (on display through July 24) with a toast to Nigerian music legend Fela Kuti, hosted by Rocky Dawuni.

Entitled Fela-bration!, the fun-filled event with feature the following:

  • Live music by Najite Agindotan (original Fela Kuti Egypt 80 member) + special guest drummers & dancers
  • Sunny War, blues guitarist and singer
  • Jaman Laws (son of legend Ronnie Laws) & Friends (live Afro Jazz)

Also:

Face painting by Wawi Amasha (Mami Afrika) and mask-making for families

DJs sets by Jeremy Sole (KCRW) and Glenn Red (Afro Funké/Eclectica)

Also:

See this major African art exhibition — Central Nigeria Unmasked: Arts of the Benue River Valley — before it embarks on an international tour!

This event is free. (cheap!)
