On September 9, 2010, Filipino Food Truck The Manila Machine is teaming up with Chef Andre Guerrero for the Taste of FPAC event. They will be working in conjunction with Chef Guerrero and parking at Guerrero”™s critically acclaimed eatery, The Oinkster.

Chef Guerrero will be serving mini pastrami sandwiches, Belgian fries and ube milkshakes (purple yam), as well as a few secret off-menu items. The Manila Machine will be providing a tasting menu of their Sisig, Pork Belly and Pineapple Adobo, Carabao Wings, Beef Tapa Pan de Sal Slider, and ube cupcakes.

LA”™s first truck to specialize in Filipino cuisine (and the city”™s first food bloggers to start a truck) The Manila Machine was recently launched by Nastassia Johnson (Let Me Eat Cake) and Marvin Gapultos (Burnt Lumpia).  In the scant few months since they rolled out, the pair have enjoyed an enthusiastic response from happy diners and seem to be surviving in the ferocious ‘truck-eat-truck’ world.

This foodie event benefits and kicks-off the 19th Annual Festival of Philippine Arts and Culture, and teams two leading proponents of the contemporary Filipino American food movement in an historic evening by focusing on two distinct approaches to comfort food made in Los Angeles.

The Oinkster is a highly acclaimed restaurant that is considered a leading practitioner of “slow cooked fast food.” It represents the latest in a long line of successful, critically-acclaimed restaurant concepts from the multiple award-winning Guerrero.

Chef Guerrero promises a special sample menu featuring some exclusive, off-menu items, but will certainly include his house smoked and cured Pastrami, Belgian French Fries and the famous Oinkster Ube Milkshakes while there will be a specially selected tasting menu prepared by The Manila Machine.

Limited tickets for FilAm ARTS”™ “Taste of FPAC” are $50.00, which is inclusive of food and non-alcoholic drinks for the evening.

  • Thoughtful and interesting, thank you. I grew up in the Philippines but moved to Australia at such a young age I barely remember anything apart from the delicious food.
